OLD PAL - IOWA Legendary Rye

HOW TO MAKE A OLD PAL COCKTAIL

OLD PAL /5

NOTES

Invented as early as 1874 at the Manhatten Club in New York City, NY. The Old Pal was originally been crafted with rye whiskey. The predominant drink during pre-prohibition times for more than a century in America.

Rye Whiskey during the pre-prohibition era of the 1930s was the predominant go-to drink for Americans as the main mixer. After the reboot of alcohol distilleries in America. People found it easier to distill Whiskey due to its column still method for a faster more alcohol rich product with its corn mash. Leaning away from rye production proved to be more difficult for the less experienced distiller.

Today most of your standard cocktails you know and love find their roots almost 1 century ago with a lot of favorites stemming from the 1940s whiskey age where they were found in popular bars, clubs, and speakeasies.

Following Prohibition’s end, the trend for party-goers leaned more towards “tiki drinks” your popular decorated fruity sweet drink with your umbrella on top in the 1930s. While the 1940s–50s brought sugary slushies to the fray in the 1970s through the 1980s. Today, many of the cocktails we enjoy seem to trend back to the classics, relying on more flavorful premium spirits & the only best quality ingredients created
from the small-batch or pot still refining method. With true cocktail soms that know their stuff.

We thank you for taking the time and reviewing this Classic Cocktail and highly recommend it with either our black-label, white-label, or red-label ryes. For increasing the overall taste of the drink and to taste a glimpse back in time. To experience what the rave was all about, for over a century in America.
